Yi-Li Godfrey

Yi-Li Godfrey is a captivating force where music, personal growth, and social transformation converge. With expertise in leadership development, facilitation, and body-based psychotherapy, she acts as a maestro, bringing people together to create harmony out of differences and unlock their collective brilliance.

Yi-Li Godfrey weaves together insights from psychology, sociology, philosophy, cultural studies, history, education, and communication. Her approach is deeply enriched by her lived experiences as an immigrant, entrepreneur, musician, and mother, allowing her to guide clients through complex challenges and cultivate meaningful growth on both individual and organizational levels.

Her Chinese/Taiwanese heritage and distinguished musical background—including a Master of Music and Bachelor of Music from Juilliard and a Doctor of Musical Arts from Stony Brook University—offer a unique perspective on communication and leadership. Like a symphony that thrives on different voices, Yi-Li believes that seemingly opposing perspectives can come together to create harmony. She helps clients develop the skills to navigate complexity, embrace challenges, and harness the power of diverse viewpoints to foster creativity and innovation.

Beyond theory, Yi-Li is a dedicated entrepreneur and community leader. She founded the Hoboken School of Music, nurturing a love for music in students of all ages, and The Hudson Symphony, which creates opportunities for young artists while making music accessible to children from a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds. Her commitment to the arts and community engagement was recognized with the Hudson County Woman in Business Award, and she currently serves as a Jersey City Cultural Arts Commissioner.

As a certified body psychotherapy practitioner, Yi-Li is passionate about fostering emotional resilience and leadership growth. She completed a rigorous four-year certification program at the Radical Aliveness Institute in Los Angeles, CA. Together with her partner, Jonathan, she co-founded Radical Aliveness Philadelphia, where she offers individual therapy and facilitates transformative workshops.

Yi-Li also trained under legendary filmmaker, author, poet, and community therapist Lee Mun Wah through his Mindful Facilitation program at StirFry Seminars & Consulting. Following her certification and internship, she worked alongside Lee Mun Wah, leading workshops for organizations and impacting thousands of individuals across the United States.

"The workshop is practical for anyone who wants to be more inclusive."

Yi-Li seems like a lovely warm person, and I appreciated the tactful delivery and authentic nature.

Yi-Li, your warmth and genuineness was helpful for me, your ability to see the value and strength of what others were sharing throughout felt spacious and aspirational

I also appreciated you bringing both your knowing and your curiosity: holding a space in which other people could bring their truth, while also standing on the ground of your personal experience and professional skill.
